Cracked drum - and only a year old

we purchased this set at lowe's last year. just as the warranty ran out, we noticed a crack at the rear of the drum. it appeared to have been there a while, but we didn't notice it because of its location. we contacted lowes & were told to go through samsung. we did, but were told the warranty had run out. the crack has gotten worse and the dryer is now unusable. i just concluded a chat with samsung support and was told a technician will contact me. a local repair service quoted me $525 to repair this, about the cost of a new dryer. i understand how little things break or electronics fail, but a cracked drum on a high-end dryer like this is inexcusable. if samsung makes good on this, i'll change my rating, but right now i cannot recommend any samsung appliance.

I had this dryer delivered and set up, each and every time I put a load of wash in the dryer and push the start button, the whole system shuts down it goes black. The first it happened I called the support line, they instructed me to un-plug the unit and wait a minute and then plug it back in, well that did allow me to dry my load of clothes, however I have to do that each and every freaking time I want to dry a load of clothes...it's brand new from the factory, they would not send a tech out the first time it happened and I don't time to keep calling and calling

I am personally a fan of some of Samsung products. I feel that they are well made even though they are not American made. This particular model dryer is faulty. We have had ours in the Merlot color for less that three years. In that time frame, we have replaced the pulley that causes the awful chirping and grinding noise when the dryer is operating and two heating elements. I have spent enough money on repairs on this particular dryer to replace it. The repairman that came to our home the third time informed us that he repairs more Samsung appliances than any other brand. He stated that it was not due to the fact that there are more of them out there than any other brand. He advised that Samsung appliances give owners the most headaches with frequent repairs. Their phones, electronics, and televisions are great. It's the appliances that are repeatedly breaking. If you research online, you will find a consistent problem with a pulley wearing down after a year that causes an extremely harsh chirping an grinding noise with this model. Samsung will not warranty it even though it a $15 part and it has reportedly occurred to many owners with this model. We replaced ours a few months ago and then the heating element stopped working. We had that repaired and searched through all of the ducts for lint and debris. None was located. Our heating element went out again a month after that and it was replaced under a repairer's warranty. The dryer was working fine and then it stopped heating a week after the third repair. All of the ducts were clean because I made sure to periodically clean them and the lint tray was cleaned after each use. Another on-line reasearch of this model dryer revealed that this is also a common problem. With as much "technology" that is placed into his this dryer, you would think that the problems would be electronic. I have not had one electrical or electronic problem with this dryer. All of it has been mechanical. I have had dryers with little to no technology that lasted over 15 years without a single malfunction. I regret upgrading to this "high efficiency" appliance and wish that I never donated my old dryer. It was almost 15 years old and worked perfectly. Stay away from this model dryer.

All new Samsung appliances for kitchen and laundry last year. Very happy with the fridge, oven, dishwasher, and washer. The dryer, DV425200EF/A3, has a problem with the start button getting stuck. We have to very lightly pry it out with the tip of a butter knife to get it to reset and start the dryer. On the day it was delivered by Lowe's, I checked the lint screen and was amazed at how poorly it was designed. It was obvious it would break within the year. I immediately went online and ordered 3 more. We've had it less than a year and the first one broke two weeks ago. Plastic hinges!

So far I have had two serious issues with the option to stack this dryer. First thing is I have limited space depth wise in my laundry closet. When stacking the unit with the compatible washer, the dryer overhangs the back of the washing machine taking up valuable space. These do not stack like you think they would, with the measurements being the same depth. Do your research if you have limited space. Second issue is that when these are stacked it becomes very difficult to read the dryers display from the ground. I am 6'0 and I still need a step stool to read the display properly. VERY poor design on both of these things. These are not enough for me to take the machines apart and return them, but pretty close. Not very pleased.

I've been using it for almost 3 mos. and I absolutely LOVE it! I purchased the MERLOT (Cranberry Red) Color. It is absolutely Beautiful! I also purchased the matching Washer and absolutely love it! Oddly this dryer is missing one screw hole in the back for the stacking kit. Also I don't see a way to increase the sound volume so I can hear when it's done from other rooms. Controls and display hard to see when stacked because they're tilted, not flat.

The washer and dryer only work side by side. Do not stack these units, if you do you can not read the top control panel. You must be about 6' 6" tall in order to read the control panel. The design is poor because the control panel is angle up, if it was flat then it would not be a problem.

I purchased this unit less than 1yr 6months and the tub apparently has been rubbing internally and caused a hole/ crack to wear in from the inside out. My wife and I take really good care of all our household appliances and the unit does not even have one scratch from the outside. I have to use a step stool and even then hard to read the panel :( wish there was a different design option for stackables. Great size, beautiful color. Nice options, more than we or most would use. Still can't wait to try steam cycle. Getting ready to install not as fun. Stacking assembly stinks for someone with limited space as it requires a deeper depth by staggering the dryer on the washer (check out the stacking kit first). Door on both washer and dryer stick a little. Had to switch the door around for our use but not hard to do. New so we will see how well it works.

I do love the dryer, but I wish there was a better manual setting available. It only allows you to change the settings to their specs, not your own wishes. The steam feature is really just a squirt of water into the dryer, which just wets some of the clothes. I thought it would actually be steamed....

CON: Sometimes my clothes do not dry enough after the first cycle on the auto drying modes even on the very dry setting but I may be overloading the dryer with clothes. I noticed that if the clothes need more drying I put it on the timed dry for additional time (usually 20 more minutes) to get them completely dry. PRO: Other than needing more drying time, the dryer does a great job I am pleased with it and appreciate the variety of settings and steam feature!

I purchased a new washer/dryer set and within 3 days, the dryer no longer heated. I contacted Home Depot ( where I purchased it ) and lucky for you, they were quick to replace it with a brand new one. It also had a small dent on the top edge of it, which I was willing to accept, but thought was rather sloppy to get away from the factory that way. ( it was under the styrofoam packing, which was not damaged, so it had to leave the factory that way.

Dryer started making a dinging sound look up code HE and it's a tempeture malfunction. And book read call for service. Really!. Not impressed. Samsung dont you already have a huge recall.
